Robert H. Goddard
1882–1945

Massachusetts connection
Worcester and Auburn
Goddard worked on rockets and tested ideas that helped make spaceflight possible. In 1926 he launched the first successful liquid-fueled rocket in Auburn. It was a small beginning with a large future. Inventors learn from tests, records, changes, and attempts that do not work.
