Island supply lab

Predict how a queue changes when arrivals, carrying capacity, and delays change. Then run ten turns.

A simplified invented model inspired by island transportation. One turn is not a real hour or day. The dots are cargo units, not people. This is not a Steamship Authority schedule, demand forecast, or model of disease.

Set your model

Watch the pattern

Run a trial to see the result.

Open the model rules

Each turn: add new cargo to the waiting queue. If the harbor is open, move up to the carrying capacity. If it is closed, move none. Waiting cargo cannot drop below zero. This model leaves out prices, staffing, priorities, weather forecasts, multiple vessels, and many other real conditions.

Change one input at a time. A different result tests the model’s rules; it does not prove what would happen in a real harbor.
