Massachusetts connection

Concord and Boston

Alcott wrote Little Women at Orchard House in Concord, drawing on experiences with her sisters. She also worked as a Civil War nurse and supported reform. Her family knew Emerson and Thoreau. A story can use real experiences without being an exact record of an author’s life.
