Henry Knox
1750–1806

Massachusetts connection
Boston and the route across Massachusetts
Knox was a Boston bookseller who became an army officer. During the winter of 1775–1776, his team moved heavy artillery from Fort Ticonderoga in New York to the Boston area. The equipment helped the Continental Army pressure British forces to leave Boston. This was a team effort requiring planning and persistence.
